The Spire's shelves are very stable, but can be somewhat slick, due to the powder coated finish. These foam pads make for a pliable, and very sticky surface to allow your RC car to stick right in place. These work perfect for RC cars with flat bottoms.
If your work surface is not so sturdy, these work well at keeping your cars in place during shaky situations, such as when someone bumps your folding table at the track.
